“Word Level I”

Word Level I is a 9-hour program providing basic word processing skills for documents such as letters, using Word. Prerequisites include a basic understanding of computer operations and mouse manipulation as provided in “Intro to Computers”; and a working knowledge of the computer operating system as provided in “Windows Level I.” Successful completion of Word Level I is required to take Word Level II & III, Publisher and PowerPoint.

Course Content:

  • Navigating the Word Window, Menus and Toolbars;

  • Getting Help; Previewing a document;

  • Planning and creating a document, using wizards and templates;

  • Entering, selecting, inserting, deleting, replacing, copying, moving, finding and   saving text in a document;

  • Changing fonts and font sizes and applying font effects;

  • The basics of spell check, auto correct, grammar checking and the thesaurus;

  • Working with paragraphs, changing paragraph alignment and spacing, indenting, changing line spacing, aligning text with tabs, create bulleted and numbered lists, apply borders and shading;

A text is included with the cost of the course. Students who complete all the scheduled hours of the class will receive a certificate of completion from the Corry Higher Education Council.
