Word Level I is a 9-hour program providing basic word processing skills for documents such as
letters, using Word. Prerequisites include a basic understanding of computer
operations and mouse manipulation as provided in “Intro to Computers”; and a
working knowledge of the computer operating system as provided in “Windows
Level I.” Successful completion of Word Level I is required to take Word Level
II & III, Publisher and PowerPoint.

Navigating the Word Window, Menus and Toolbars;

Getting Help; Previewing a document;

Planning and creating a document, using wizards and templates;

Entering, selecting, inserting, deleting, replacing, copying,
moving, finding and
saving text in a document;

Changing fonts and font sizes and applying font effects;

The basics of spell check, auto correct, grammar checking and the
thesaurus;

Working with paragraphs, changing paragraph alignment and spacing,
indenting, changing line spacing, aligning text with tabs, create
bulleted and
numbered lists, apply borders and shading;
