"Intro
to Computers, Internet & Email" is a 12-hour program providing
basic hands-on computing skills, introduction to Internet searching skills and
emailing procedures to those with little or no familiarity with
personal computers or the Internet, as well as some theory regarding how computers work.
Completion of this program, or equivalent knowledge, is
required before taking any other computer course except "Keyboarding."

Different ways to use the mouse,
and adjusting the mouse;

Menus, keyboard shortcuts,
toolbars, dialog boxes, scroll bars, help and support center;

Creating/saving a document using
“WordPad” or “Paint”;

Selecting, cutting & pasting,
copying, and deleting text;

Working with multiple programs;

File management,
viewing/creating/searching for files;
·
Copying/moving and
deleting/restoring files;
·
Saving files to and retrieving
files from an external storage device;
·
History and scope of the Internet;
·
Connecting to the Internet;
·
Using a browser to explore the
World Wide Web;
·
Multiple methods to search for
information;
·
Using Search Engines and comparing
the results;
·
Reviewing what sites have been
visited on the World Wide Web;
·
Organizing favorite Internet sites
into folders for easy access;

Sending Email to others;

Attaching files to outgoing Email
messages;
