“Internet & E-mail Level I”

Introduction to the Internet is a 6-hour program providing basic Internet search and use skills, with the World Wide Web is its focus. Prerequisites include a basic understanding of computer operations and mouse manipulation as provided in “Intro to Computers.” Successful completion of Internet & E-mail Level I, or equivalent knowledge, is required to take Internet Level II.

Course Content:

  • History and scope of the Internet;

  • Connecting to the Internet;

  • Using a browser to explore the World Wide Web;

  • Multiple methods to search for information;

  • Searching for information more effectively;

  • Using Search Engines and comparing the results;

  • Reviewing what sites have been visited on the World Wide Web;

  • Organizing favorite Internet sites into folders for easy access;

  • Sending e-mail to other students and to outside addresses.

Hand-out reference materials are included with the cost of this course.  Students who complete all the scheduled hours of the class will receive a certificate of completion from the Corry Higher Education Council.
