As educators strive to reach all students and
support them on their journey to success, caring educators find themselves
asking “Where do we find the time?” and “Where do I begin?” This course is
designed to guide in developing lessons, ideas, and assessment and data
collection tools to grade levels and subject areas. Assignments will be
practical and individualized based on an opening class conference with the
professor. All materials and assignments completed and produced will be
practical and applicable to each individual teacher’s classroom and school.
Differentiated instruction is a teaching approach in which educators adapt
their instruction to student differences. In place of developing a
curriculum aimed at the common student, teachers modify their instruction to
meet students’ readiness levels, preferences, and interests. It recognizes
the fact that we have a diverse student population and enables educators to
teach students of varying abilities in one class. |

Teachers are continually faced
with rapid change. The learners with whom we work are different. In order to
garner success in our classrooms we need to understand people rather than
content, emotions rather than test results, learning rather than teaching
and we need a broader range of skills and an understanding of how our brain,
mind, and body function in the learning situation. Through the investigation
of practical classroom ideas we will investigate over 30 ready to use brain
based tools to help enhance the learning in any classroom. |
