Coding for CNC Milling

M & W       Feb. 25 - April 2         6-9 p.m.          $750

Offered in Corry by the Precision Manufacturing Institute (PMI) of Meadville! This 36-hour course emphasizes the fundamentals of operating and programming a CNC milling machine. Students will learn the basic G-code and M-code programming structures for CNC milling machines, will develop a simple program, and utilize the Haas CNC Milling Center Simulator.

Topics in this graded course include:
O Safety and Maintenance on CNC Milling Machines
O Cutter Compensation
O Developing a Simple Program
O Drilling and Tapping Cycles
O G-Code Programming
O Understanding Roughing Cycles
O G-Codes and M-Codes
O PMI Project Drawing
O Running a Sample Part
O Final Test of G-Code Point-to-Point Program
O Drilling, Tapping, Reaming and Boring Canned Cycles

Students will be tested using prints and questions similar to NIMS Milling Machine Skills. Students will also be required to determine the best possible method for producing machined parts on the CNC mill from blueprints and raw material specifications.


Registration deadline is Monday, Feb. 18. Student cancellations after noon Wednesday, Feb. 20 cannot be reimbursed. Call 664-9405.
